Engaging Youth to Assess their own Health: A Novel Approach to Health Assessment in Denver

Health assessments that rely entirely on data collected from traditional surveillance sources often lack the community engagement necessary to ensure findings reflect the experience of communities in question. Through this session, local health department and community stakeholders will learn about a specific effort to engage community members in the health assessment process and will understand how participatory approaches to health assessment could be applied in their own communities or at their own agencies.
